Sundance Film Festival

The Sundance Film Festival was founded by Robert Redford, John Earle, and Sterling Van Wagenen in 1978. This festival is organized annually by the Sundance Institute, a non-profit organization that Robert Redford founded to promote independent artists both nationally and globally. The Sundance Film Festival events take place in Park City, Utah, Salt Lake City, and is at the Sundance Resort. It takes place annually in January.

The event has competitive categories where awards are offer including documentaries, dramas, short films, and featured films. They also have out-of-competition categories where they showcase new films for the audience. This event is known for being the largest indie film festival in the United States, where nearly 47,000 attendees enjoyed films in 2016.

The Sundance Festival cancelled their usual presentation of films due to the pandemic, and instead planned out the logistics of their 2021 edition for a while. This means that they are doing digital events, as well as drive-in events, and events at independent art houses across the country - where they can hold events safely. There is also a VR space that was introduced this year. The event will take place starting on January 28th and ends on February 3rd. You can purchase tickets from their website now, but passes are limited.
