Rock in Rio is a music festival that was founded in 1985. The festival originally took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, though it later also took place in Las Vegas, Madrid, and Lisbon. Roberto Medina, a Brazilian advertiser and entrepreneur, was the founder of the event and originally organizing the event. He was also responsible for moving the 2004 Rock in Rio to Lisbon.

The 2020 Rock in Rio Lisbon event ended up being postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. As of yet, there have been no official dates announced for the Lisbon or the Brazil 2021 festivals. The Brazilian edition of the festival typically takes place across 2 weekends in the latter part of September and early October.
